April 11 - Creating Bird Habitat Webinar (free)
Every day is a good day for observing birds in your garden, from the snowy depths of winter to the height of summer bloom. Learn how to make your yard an oasis that provides food and shelter for our feathered friends.

April 17 - Maximize Your Healthy Yard Workshop (free)

Growing native trees, shrubs and wildflowers can help your garden thrive and improve the natural environment. Learn how to choose the right native plants for your yard and how to install and use rain barrels and composters.

April 19 - Trees & Wildlife Workshop (free)
Trees have many benefits to our community, including providing food and shelter for wildlife. Learn about the life cycle of trees, what features can help you decipher a tree’s identity and interesting species that you can find in your neighbourhood!

April 19 - Clean Up, Green Up Weeks Begins (free)
Everyone is invited to help give Richmond Hill a spring cleaning! From April 19 to May 3, residents, businesses, community groups and schools are encouraged to come together to help pick up litter that has accumulated over the winter months in parks, trails, on boulevards and in open spaces.
Learn more and register online by April 7.
April 21 - Earth Day Film & Family Fun (free)
Location: Richmond Hill Public Library, Central Branch, 1 Atkinson Street, 2nd floor
Date & time: Sunday, April 21, 2-4 p.m. (drop-in event; no registration required)

Film Screening & Discussion - 2-3 p.m., Room A

The Nature of Things Documentary: Ice & Fire (run time 45 minutes)
  • Learn how cities and towns across Canada are affected by climate change and the bold actions they are taking to protect our communities and natural environment
  • Talk with Richmond Hill staff about local sustainability programs and projects

Interactive Eco-Activities - 2-4 p.m., Room B

  • Take part in eco-inspired games, arts and crafts, featuring the innovative and award-winning Ice Dragons youth team.
  • Enjoy refreshments, prizes, and more! 
April 22 - Healthy Yards Plant & Garden Sale Begins
Create a beautiful, eco-friendly garden at a low cost! Starting April 22, Richmond Hill residents can pre-order native trees, shrubs, perennial wildflower kits, rain barrels and/or composters. The online sale runs until May 20 or while supplies last.
