Richmond Hill is home to 6 fire stations, staffed by highly trained firefighters 24 hours a day.

Fire Headquarters, Training and Fire Prevention

1200 Elgin Mills Road East, 2nd Floor
Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M4

The Fire Chief, Deputy Chiefs and Training Officers are located here. The Fire Prevention Division and the Richmond Hill Fire Department Training Centre are also located here.

Fire Station #8-1

191 Major Mackenzie Drive West
Richmond Hill, ON L4C 5J1

  • Named after former Fire Chief Alfred Stong, Station 8-1 was officially opened in September 1978.  It is the oldest, and largest of all the fire stations in Richmond Hill.
  • The Platoon Chiefs and 32 firefighters, working in four different crews, are located here
  • They are specially trained in confined space, high angle (rope) and trench rescues
  • Communications Staff, who dispatch for five local fire services, are located here
  • This location also has the main air compressor for Richmond Hill's Fire department, where air bottles for the firefighters are filled.
  • Firefighters at Station 8-1 respond to all types of emergency calls, but are specially trained in confined space, high angle (rope), and trench rescues
Fire Station #8-2
13067 Yonge Street
Richmond Hill, ON L4E 1A7
  • Named after former Fire Chief R.G. Kennedy, Station 8-2 was officially opened in October 1996 and serves the residents in the Oak Ridges of Richmond Hill
  • There are 20 firefighters, working in four different crews, at this location
  • They are specially trained in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and water and ice rescues.
Fire Station #8-3
1371 16th Avenue
Richmond Hill, ON L4B 3E3
  • Officially opened in October 1989, Station 8-3 is named after former Fire Chief H.J. Mills
  • Station 8-3 is the second oldest fire station in Richmond Hill and was the only station to have a firefighter pole, until it was recently removed
  • There are 20 firefighters, working in four different crews, at this location
  • They are specially trained in hazardous materials (HAZMAT), confined space and high level rope rescues.
Fire Station #8-4
1365 Elgin Mills Road East
Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M8
  • Officially opened in May 2000, Station 8-4 is named after former Deputy Fire Chief Russell “Curly” Lynett
  • This is the first single-floor design fire station in Richmond Hill; this design helps lower response times of fire crews and improves safety of the firefighters responding to calls
  • There are 20 firefighters, working in four different crews, at this location
  • They are specially trained in hazardous materials (HAZMAT), confined space, trench and high level rope rescues.
Fire Station #8-5
150 High Tech Road
Richmond Hill, ON L4B 4N5
  • Station 8-5 was officially opened in May 2001 and is named after former Fire Chief Bert Cook  

  • There are 20 firefighters, working in four different crews, at this fire station

  • Crews are specially trained in trench, confined space and high angle rescues
  • This is the first station to have an area with exercise equipment for the firefighters to use
  • The state-of-the-art main Emergency Operations Centre is also located here.
Fire Station #8-6
101 Gamble Road
Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1K7
  • Station 8-6 is the newest and most environmentally-friendly fire station in Richmond Hill
  • The station is built to LEED silver specifications
  • The roof is designed to collect and recycle water for washing trucks
  • There is also a back-up generator that can power the entire building when there's a power outage
  • There are 20 firefighters, working in four different crews, at this location
  • They are specially trained in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and water and ice rescues
  • This station is also a single-floor design, reducing response time and improving safety for the firefighters.
